This food distribution is a big part of our mission at ICS. It is funded by the Retreat Guest Rooms and by our Spreading Spiritual Literature program. If you'd like to donate or volunteer please contact us.
Every Monday and Friday the folks from ICS cook and distribute vegetarian food to the hungry in Tompkins Square Park. Evangel is the cook, varying the menu a little every time, each time making it better than the last. Then the food is offered to God, making it even more delicious, not only to the tongue, but to the soul as well. Next, Adi, and the crew from the Retreat Guest Rooms, sometimes a few guests included, take the sanctified food to Tompkins Square Park, and hand it out to the hungry. There are always smiling faces and greetings of "God bless you" to accompany the many plates in many hands.
Interfaith Community Services sponsors the distribution of spiritual literature to the general public. Knowledge is power, and spiritual knowledge, not limited by sectarianism can do wonders towards real peace and happiness.
A picture is worth a thousand words, and a play so many more. Through the support of various artistic and performing arts projects, Interfaith Community Services hopes to uplift the hearts and spirits of many people, bringing them closer to each other and to God.
